Ready to build on the basics? Our Private Kids Crochet: Next Steps class is designed for young crocheters who have learned the foundations of crochet and are ready to explore new techniques through personalized, one-on-one instruction.
Skills Needed: Participants should have some previous crochet experience and be comfortable holding their hook and yarn, chaining, and working basic crochet stitches.
During this 60-minute private class, your child will focus on one crochet technique of their choice, allowing plenty of time for guided instruction, hands-on practice, and questions.
Choose your Technique
Select ONE of the following techniques when booking:
Magic Circle & Working in the Round: Learn how to start crocheting in a circle rather than straight rows. A foundational skill for making amigurumi, hats, and other round projects.
Increases & Decreases: Learn how to add or reduce stitches to shape crochet projects, such as stuffed animals and other three-dimensional creations.
Colour Changing: Learn how to switch between yarn colours to create patterns, stripes, and colourful designs.
Fastening Off & Finishing Techniques: Learn how to securely finish a crochet project, weave in yarn ends, and give handmade creations a neat finish.
Pattern Reading: Learn how to understand beginner-friendly crochet patterns, common abbreviations, and written instructions.
Not sure which technique to choose?
If your child is still developing their crochet skills, we recommend learning the techniques in the following order:
Magic Circle & Working in the Round — Learn how to crochet beyond basic rows.
Increases & Decreases — Build on working in the round and learn how to shape projects.
Colour Changing — Add different colours and designs to crochet creations.
Fastening Off & Finishing Techniques — Learn how to neatly and securely finish projects.
Pattern Reading — Begin following written patterns and working more independently.
This is a suggested learning sequence, not a requirement. Children may choose techniques based on their existing skills and interests.
Please Note: Each 60-minute private class focuses on ONE selected technique only. Multiple techniques are not taught within the same session. If your child would like to learn additional techniques, a separate class must be booked for each one.
Additional sessions may also be booked to continue practicing the same technique until your child feels confident.
